3 years, 1 month ago3 years, 1 month agoI do not think it is wood but it is very hard to tell from this photo, it looks like some sort of mudstone with cool weathering (oxidation)

3 years, 2 months ago3 years, 2 months agoI am pretty sure that I commented on one of your photos but now can not find it, my app hasn’t been working right. This is going to be some sort quartz/chert rock. If you look at it with a handles can you see grains? They may look like circles but they could also look like blobs. If you do then it is a really cool quartzite!

3 years, 2 months ago3 years, 2 months agoSorry for the late response, school and work. It can be a killer! It could be a vast number of things but if it were quartz it would be able to scratch a piece of glass. I am not sure what you mean by real/fake, as if natural or lab grown?

3 years, 2 months ago3 years, 2 months agoThese are burrows! They are called fucoidal because they were originally thought the be kelp. There is debate on whether they were formed by trilobites or by poorly preserved worms. Here’s a link about them in Utah: https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMFQ7F_Fucoidal_Quartzite_Logan_Canyon_Utah

3 years, 2 months ago3 years, 2 months agoLooks like shell growth to me! They could be the ridges of a shell: clam, oyster, brachiopod, and so on
