Wondering if this could be some kind of stone tool? #fossil

    • Hi there, @dana-losser, cool find! Generally, stone tools show chips along the edges where flakes were knocked off to make the tool sharper. Other stone tools, like hammers, show percussion wear on one end, while the other end is more bulbous so that it fits in a hand. This does not look like a stone tool to me, but rather an interestingly shaped rock. May I ask what site you found it at?

    • I found it in Elberta Utah.

    • Also keep in mind that man made archaeological items (stone tools, pottery, etc.) are not fossils.
