Very nice fossil, @steve-lynn! Would you want to add in the taxonomic/classification information. I’m not a cephalopod expert but can at least help you with Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Mollusca, Class Cephalopoda, Order Ammonitida

Very nice!

Hi, @Heather-Williams! Do you have any more information about where this was found? It also looks like there is a bryozoan in this rock! Very cool find!
-
@Samantha-ocon Hello. Yes it is a specimen of bryozoan and a brachiopod. I found it in a creek in middle TN.

Wow, amazing find!

Gorgeous, @Nathan-Newell. @MacKenzie-Smith, can you confirm this ID?
-
@samantha-ocon and @nathan-newell I can confirm this is Neuropteris. However, if Tracheophyta is being treated as a division then the order should be Pteridospermatophyta. The Medullosales falls in this group and not the cycads.
-
@samantha-ocon @mackenzie-smith Thanks! The order has been updated.

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoHi.Initially posted this to the forum. Can anyone help with the identification of this Green River formation fossil? It looks like some from of hexapod larva and has legs in the lower right hand corner. It was described by the supplier as a ‘Cranefly larva (Pronophlebia rediva)’ but I’m not convinced as it ‘doesn’t look right’. The fossil orig…[Read more]

Maybe @jim-barkley would have some ideas?

Nice find! It looks like an insect larva, but I couldn’t say which one. West end of the Radar Dome has several different larvae.
-
Thanks Jim; I’ll have a search of the Internet to see if there is anything out there that can help with the ID.
