Delwin Glasner has contributed specimen mFeM 57133 to myFOSSIL!

    • Hi, @delwin-glasner – if you collected this specimen out with us in the field I believe the formation should be Ocala rather than Coosawhatchie and the epoch would be Eocene. Maybe @samantha-ocon can confirm that information and the identificaiton information? Talk to you soon, Jen

      • That’s not what I was told after the field trip in the classroom

        • We were physically *in* the Coosawhatchie formation but I think the foraminifera are sourced from the Ocala Limestone, which is Eocene in age. @jeanette-pirlo or @vperez can confirm, since I’m less familiar with the local stratigraphy.

          • Hello, @jbauer is correct. The creek had all three ages that you listed (Oligocene, Miocene, and Pleistocene), but the forams come from the Eocene Ocala Limestone Formation.

          • I’am not totally convinced of the I.D. without slicing, Please take a look at this link -http://www.foraminifera.eu/single.php?no=1000128&aktion=suche

            • That’s fair – I think furthering the ID can be quite hard in foraminifera. For some reason I am unable to reach foraminifera.eu on my work computer – it is possibly blocked by the secure wifi. I will check it out when I get home this evening.
