The water level has been up and down all summer but when it gets low like this it’s so amazing and hard to leave lol. There’s a spring nearby we swim at and my best friend was thinking “god we’ll never make it there cos she can’t stop picking up rocks” 😂

3 years, 8 months ago3 years, 8 months agono they are fossilized from a creek that’s in south Georgia, likely miocene age. It’s about 270 miles from the ocean.

3 years, 8 months ago3 years, 8 months agolol, nah just some very tannin stained water! This part of the Alapahoochee river isnthe size of a creek and has several small swamp springs feeding them. Beautiful petrified wood in this river and area. No fossils that I’ve found but the creeks usually have an abundance of teeth, ray plates, tapir teeth, arrowheads etc… you can sink up to your…[Read more]

Those are gorgeous! But look very new! Is there still water in that creek? Some sharks can go miles into freshwater rivers and creeks! Be careful!

no they are fossilized from a creek that’s in south Georgia, likely miocene age. It’s about 270 miles from the ocean.

Gorgeous specimen @elizabeth-reynolds! For ID purposes, each specimen must be uploaded to its own post! If you could do so, with pictures of the specimen against a neutral background and with scale that would be awesome!
