A dark tooth against a black background would not show up well. Probably Carcharhinus limbatus blacktip shark

Thank you, @Bill-Heim, you’re right! I fixed my comment.

3 years, 7 months ago3 years, 7 months agoHi, @alejandro-perez – Do you have a better image of this specimen? It is difficult to confirm your identification from this photo. If you can take am image with a scale bar that would also help! I’ll tag in our FL shark expert as well – @fauve-wilson.

3 years, 7 months ago3 years, 7 months agoHi, @heath-carroll – I’m not seeing any fossil remains in this rock. @vperez and @fauve-wilson are more familiar with rays than I am so maybe they will see something I don’t.

3 years, 7 months ago3 years, 7 months agoHi, @helen-harless – Do you remember where you found this specimen?
If your identificaiton is correct the Order is Carchariniformes > Family Carcharhinidae. I will tag in our shark experts to confirm – @bill-heim@fauve-wilson. It’s often most helpful if you have two views of the specimen – either side as the diagnostic features are variable.…[Read more] -
