7 years, 2 months ago7 years, 2 months agoHey @gsantos, as a celebration of @taorminalepore‘s talk in the Women in Paleontology series, we want to have a better representation of coprolites on myFOSSIL. Are there any key fossils from the Alf Museum that your students could contribute to gallery? @emily-chu@joyce-yuan can you help? We love and appreciate what you’ve been doing with the gallery!
-
Hi Kent! I’m currently working on a paper on some Alf coprolites. When we publish, I can add that in as a resource! Best, Tara
-
That’s great news, Tara, thank you!
-
Ah. @taorminalepore beat me to the punch. But in the mean time, we some Oligocene aged coprolites that I can probably get entered!

7 years, 4 months ago7 years, 4 months ago@gsantos I saw this LA Times article! I liked the way it was written, with the feedback from some paleo folks and the warning (?) that more fossils would probably be found. I hope they continue to do follow up stories. It so often seems that fossils are found during construction, and it makes the news, but the story isn’t necessarily followed up.…[Read more]

Awesomeness!! They are so cute and so on point with their magnifying glasses and sorting columns. Great job on this activity @rebecca-mussetter. I have done this activity with my high school students and I am amazed how this one type of activity can engage participants from literally all age groups.

@egardner the students are enjoying it a lot. I’m still refining my teaching skills in how I get them to learn to make sure the data they enter is precise and standardized, but its a work in progress for me, my students, and volunteers.
