Got the big rocks picked off the ray I unearthed. Added bonus that Some sort of sea shell made a home in his eye socket. Gonna give it an acid bath to remove the concreation crust that’s left on it. I think he laid dead on the ocean floor for awhile a lot of critters made a home of him. Very interestingpeice for sure #fossil

Good morning, @heath-carroll. I suspect this may be a piece of conglomerate or concrete, unfortunately.

I figure if it’s been there for several million years a couple more days won’t hurt it.

I found a couple of crinoid. But mostly trying to figure out the creature/ray. I started cleaning the skeletons but I don’t want it to fall apart it’s very delicate it has the cartilage hip bones and the support for the fin. It’s very cool so as soon as it’s identified I will decide how to move forward. I only retrieved the medium and small o…[Read more]

Hi, @heath-carroll, what are you identifying as hip bones? And hip bones of what? I think most of the area you are collecting in is Devonian in age so I would be surprised if you found bone at all outside of maybe some fish teeth.
