Hi, @inkar-arzah – Do you have any more information for this fossil? Any idea what it is or what time period you collected it from? Or where you were when you collected it? Talk to you soon, Jen

3 years, 1 month ago3 years, 1 month agoDoes anyone know what kind of brachiopod this is? I had written down “Conchidium” but I don’t think that’s right.
The fossil is Ordovician, in a piece of limestone with Grewingkia pieces. (The image title says El Salvador, for some reason, but the specimen is from Ontario)

Inkar Arzah commented on Isaac Magallanes‘s Fossil #029276 3 years, 1 month ago
3 years, 1 month ago3 years, 1 month agoAre Cenozoic fossils found everywhere, or only in some areas? I don’t know if there are fossil-bearing rocks of that age.
-
Hi, @inkar-arzah, Cenozoic fossils are found in specific places – this holds true for Mesozoic and Paleozoic fossils as well. There are Cenozoic fossil bearing rocks but also many shales and more brittle rock that sometimes just look like soil. Does this answer your question? Maybe @imagallanes has extra information to add?

3 years, 1 month ago3 years, 1 month agoI found these in rocks in a historical canal, and therefore cannot chisel them out. Are they crinoid stems? They are likely Ordovician rocks.
