Hi, @jack-corson – Could you upload an image of this specimen with a ruler so we could confirm your measurements? I think your geochronology section is incorrect. You can use Macrostrat to zoom in on the locality you collected at to get a better idea of formation & age: https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=12.5/x=-82.3069/y=29.6520/bedrock/lines/

Isurus is a mako shark, this is not a mako but instead a lower Carcharhinus species. From the lower teeth (which this is), it is usually (there are a few exceptions) to narrow down the exact species.

I think your geologic context is off, please check out this link and head to the locality you collected in to get more accurate data: https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=13.8/x=-82.3176/y=29.6521/bedrock/lines/
If you could upload a photo with a ruler we could confirm your dimensions and identification more confidently. Talk to…[Read more]

Hi, @jack-corson – Could you upload an image with a scale? This will help us validate your measurements. I also think that your geochronology fields are incorrect. Did you find this in a creek in Gainesville Florida? Check out this geologic map you can figure out the time and rock of the locality you were collecting in:…[Read more]

Negaprion is a lemon shark. This is not a lemon but instead a Carcharhinus species. I would need an image of the other side (preferably with a scale bar) to positively id it.
