Jacob Polzin has contributed specimen mFeM 75102 to myFOSSIL!

    • Hi @jacob-polzin, @vperez or @bill-heim can help confirm this ID! Also, you can update the lithostrat to the Chesapeake Group. The Miocene formations in the Chesapeake Group are the Calvert and Eastover Formations.

    • Genus and species epithet should match. If you say the genus is Otodus, then the species epithet should be Otodus chubutensis. As there is disagreement, I would accept either classification. It’s not that big of a deal. You should be able to type over entries.

    • Helllo @bill-heim, I don’t think I’m allowed to change the classification of the specimen as I used the taxon wizard and it auto filled this information. I checked to see if it would recognize Otodus chubutensis, but it won’t because Carcharocles is it’s subgenus. If I’m doing something wrong please let me know; I’m brand new to this site and would like to know how to use it better. Thanks!

    • It’s not that big of a deal either way as there is some disagreement in the genus classification. You should be able to type over something if you want to change it.
