Hi there! Can you give us a little context of where this comes from or if you know the age? This helps in the identification process. Right now I’m thinking either a tooth, stem or chert that is a pseudofossil (rock that looks like a fossil).

I think these are tilly bones. Tilly bones are a common name for hyperostotic bones in fish, which is a fancy way of saying an excessive bone growth. They look like fish dorsal spines with excessive growth. Unfortunately, I don’t know my fish well enough to say what kind.

It’s a lower tooth of Hemipristis serra (extinct snaggletooth shark).
