Jeff Alliaume has contributed a new specimen to myFOSSIL!
soil: cretaceous period
It’s most likely a late cretecous theropod dinosaur
Can I see underneath please?
Is the tooth quite sharp?
Does it look like it’s broken off from a whole tooth?
Find out what theropod used to live around that area and my Personal opinion is that it could be a suchomimus tooth?
A shard
?
hi yeah looks like its been broken of
it s still sharp but no serrations can be analysed anymore…
@jack-parker-tyreman i ve added a pic from underbeath the tooth. could it be a tip op the tooth? what s your opinion?
If it’s really sharp it might be a carcharodontosaurus tooth shard
But I researched a bit and found that it could be a suchomimus tooth?
@jack-parker-tyreman ok thank you very much 🙂 could you also jelp me id the other teeth? i have no idea which teeth that could be
Well no serations means one of two things. Either it’s been rolled around by elements or it crocodile. Most likely crocodile because its not very curved like theropod dinosaur but more straighter like a crocodile. Croc teeth have no serations. As it is broken off I guess it is hard to see whether it is is circular? The more circular the base the more likely crocodile. Possibly Sarchosuchus. Or parasuchus which was very similar to a crocodile but was a phytosaur.
Yep croc because of rounded bottem
thanks @smudge-smith !
That’s ok. But don’t go by me with the species of croc I’m more expert on dinosaurs!
noted 😉
@smudge-smith and @jeff-alliaume It can’t be a phytosaur if the soil is from the Cretaceous period because phytosaurs are from the late Triassic.
l am more inclined to it being a suchomimus or crocodile than a carcharodontosaurus
it fits the same parameters as the one two posts below
yes @a-trilobite I guess. I’m thinking croc now
