Unfortunately, it doesn’t belong on this platform. With all due respect…

There’s three things I can tell you about this specimen: it is composed of a coal shale, it is a “limbcast,” though not from a tree limb- it is a root, and the common name is Stigmaria. Each one of those holes had a softer “sucker” root.

Rules…ughhh…😂 As for a Troosticrinus project, I’m totally down for that, (in whatever capacity I can be of service.) They are so very strange. I will continue to hoard them in the Beech River as I can.

I find it strange that no one ever went back and redescribed it. There’s one paleozoic shark tooth that’s been renamed three different times! I think “Troostiblastus” sounds kinda cute.

hahahaha, I bet there’s one of those in every room of my house! Though I must say they’re getting a little harder to find. You know I’m most partial to the Diploblastus. Poor wee things!

    • That is the best description of Troosticrinus ever!!! It is one of the weirdest blastoids.

    • @jess-cost there are rules against stuff like that- even if it would make it more logical. There’s and entire BOOK on it, very boring. But I would like to do a Troosticrinus project because they are WEIRD!! They have smushed spiracles, slits, and coronal canals aka TOO MANY respiratory structures. Future collaboration? Once I get a permanent position 0_o

    • These brachiopods always make me want to throw a “hang loose”! My old lab mate always would make that hand gesture when we were chatting spiriferids- really stuck with me!!
