Hi @jim-howard How heavy is it? It is a bone but it looks modern. If it is dense then it could be a fossil. Modern elk, deer, cow and antelope bones sometimes end up in dried up creeks (washed in or get caught in floods). Those likes are actually muscle scars rather than skin.
