Check out the big I-70 road cut parkand ride just west of you (maybe the Morrison exit), there are signs I.D.ing the tilted rock layers. Check out the Dakota formation from above . Thats the layer where fossil leaves have been found and Yellow cake Uranium near by.
Check out the Cherry Creek hiking trail up stream of the lake for some nice fossil wood (yellow/brown color).
Check out Sterling lake near the park for Dino bones in matrix.
