@keith-peavy Paleozoic brachiopod. Mostly likely Cambro-Ordivician or Carboniferous. Still amazed your finding such great specimens considered the local lithology.

@aiden-gore Hahaha! Well, I need a better picture but whatever is encased (the top part is visible) has a very distinct, ribbed contour to it that is similar to other fossil patterns that we have been finding. It’s a bit discolored here so it perhaps does not stand out too well.

Dinosaur skin can also fossilize not just the bones

@cheyanne-mcgehee The strata around Blommenholm is from the Paleozoic, so before the time of the dinosaurs. Also, most fossilized dinosaur skin that I have worked with, seen, or own do not demonstrate external molds with such patterning. Scale impressions are usually considerably smaller as well.

Maybe it’s not a dinosaur skin fossil. But it could still be a fossilized skin of something else right?

Hey @keith-peavy ! This could be an igneous rock from some of the Carboniferous strata that is NW of Blommenholm.

Depending on where you are collecting these, they ste probably brachiopods. I’m still amazed that you are finding them considering the lithology of around Blommenholm.

It’s a toss up between a mineral formation and a tabulate coral.
