Hi, @kev-burn, It’s hard to tell what this is from the photo. Do you have any preliminary identification for this specimen? At first glance it looks like a rock but there may be some pattern to it but the glare makes it hard to tell. If you upload another photo I could take another shot at the identification. Thanks, Jen

Hey Kev, what state are you collecting in? I think you’ve got a little bit of a crinoid stem.
Mid Atlantic coast.
Very nice specimen, @kev-burn. You could fill in the classification on our online platform – myfossil.org. Kingdom Animalia > Phylum Echinodermata > Class Crinoidea. Any any other location information you may have. Talk to you soon, Jen
