3 years, 6 months ago3 years, 6 months ago@matthew-gramling I do find a lot of pieces with crinoid stems, corals, and small brachiopod imprints (I believe) in the same area, so I could definitely believe either. Thank you for your help! Super informative comments like that help me learn more in depth and I appreciate it!

Greetings @kora-wilholr ! This almost appears to be a brachiopod shell. If you could post a few more photos from different angles and some general location info (county or town) that would help verify and aid in narrowing down an ID .

@kora-wilholr Great! So, it appears you collected this from the Coldwater Shale or Marshall Sandstone formation. Both of which are from the Carboniferous period and Mississippian in age. From the photos it looks like a brachiopod, but it could also be a very convincing “pseudo-fossil” composed of weathered rock. For now, I lean towards the former.

3 years, 7 months ago3 years, 7 months agoI do have more photos in different lighting, but I was wondering if this could possibly be a fossil, or if the lines are just how the little points formed?

Hm I’m not sure either. Some trace fossil I guess?
-
For some reason I imagined a very small, very worn specimen of Dickinsonia but that’s probably not it lol
