In the desert?

places and locations change throughout time due to tectonic plate movement. the very spot you stand on right now would have probably been a deep seabed on the opposite side of the world some millions of years ago. so yes, a shell in the desert.

I think the previous post was suggesting it is a modern shell. I know that this area was once under water.
