3 years, 6 months ago3 years, 6 months agoThe rock is about 4 feet by 4 feet by 3 feet… and I find large rocks of similar size in an area of the creek not near a road or any building, nor downstream from any. Very wooded for miles upstream. Quite odd… next time I go I’ll bring tools to dig out some of the black pieces.

Cyclocystoid? If it is it’s pretty rare, but not sure.
-
@daniel-park It’s not that, I was thinking maybe a limpet?
-
Seems reasonable @a-trilobite that it may be that, thank you both!
-
Yup
-
@a-trilobite it doesn’t look like a limpet…. I’m going with @daniel-park
-
Cyclocystoids have little even segments in a ring shape, so probably not a cyclocystoid never mind.
-
Yeah. @smudge-smith
-
still… It can’t be a limpet. some is still imbeded in rock so @daniel-park could be right
-
@smudge-smith it’s the right shape, size, and it has the radiating edge lines. And they’re very common. So yeah. 🅱️oom.
-
l’m going with limpet
-
at least till it gets removed and the true shape is revealed
-
still doesn’t look like limpet…
-
@a-trilobite I did a post of a limpet AND IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE IT.
-
@smudge-smith y u so salty?
-
@smudge-smith you heard me.
-
what does salty mean? @a-trilobite
-
@smudge-smith it’s angry, but for gen-z kids
-
why you bully me bruh. I’m a kid! @a-trilobite
-
@smudge-smith if you’re a kid, why don’t you know what salty means?
-

could be debris from a road construction. seems like a bunch of tar and asphalt
-

-
That’s odd, if it was found far from a road. those bits definitely look like splattered hot tar that solidified
-
Agreed… I’m going to do more digging next visit
