It could be a trace fossil, or just erosion. It’s hard to tell, do you know the age of the rock you found it in?

Did it say how old the rocks are?

Well I think Wikipedia is saying around 20 million years old. However, I don’t know for sure how old the rock is.

It’s saying that the rocks were deposited for 20 million years, so I’m still not sure about the age

Not a clam, it looks similar to some kinds of cocker shells but I’m not certain. It’s definitely a bivalve shell though

Greetings! @mya-mosher ! We have actually seen specimens like this a few times on this app. It’s large bivalve shell. @bill-heim might remember the common name for it.

Can’t help with that for two reasons. First there is not enough of the specimen to identify it. Second, I am not an invertebrate guy, I would have to research it to find the species name (a lot of work).

It’s an eroded conch shell.
