Well it’s definitely something because it’s right in the same place as fossil crabs and mammoths teeth & crinoid stems you can only see so much from a picture

As someone who works at a site with over 60 preserved mammoths, I can say with confidence this is neither a tusk nor any other type of fossil. I suggest contacting a local museum or university if you want a second professional opinion. The human brain is fine tuned to pick up patterns, I have many times mistaken a rock for a fossil! Mostly rocks. The dark one top right and possibly the smaller dark one under it has crinoid stems. Everything else appear to be just rocks

I concur with Corinne. Nothing wrong with rocks though, they tell their own story!

Hey @paul-machale, shark coprolites will usually have a distinct spiral on them due to the nature of their digestive system. This looks like a piece of limestone.

Tortoise ? #fossil #the specimen has a almost hard leathery feel

    • Profile picture of Corinne
      Corinne replied 1 month ago

Not a tortoise but might have some crinoid stems. the little circles and there might be a star crinoid, it’s visible on the left of the third photo.

    • Profile picture of Mason Hintermeister
Mason Hintermeister replied 1 month ago

Unfortunately this is not a tortoise fossil and I believe the things which look like crinoids are accidents of wear.
