They appear to be mud rocks that were used in sling shots for hunting and fighting most likely by Indian tribes. If you look closely there might by etchings on them that are still left that will tell whom the owner was so they could go back and get their weapons. I would do a little research and find out what tribes lives along the banks of that particular river.
