It’s about a inch long and I dug it out of a slab of matrix that a Mosasaurus tooth was displayed on. I think it’s a piece of the under jawbone with skin or a piece of coral so many things my brain can think of .

It is extremely worn so it is hard to say for sure, especially given that the area you found it in has really mixed up stratigraphy (you might be able to figure out a more exact age by using the app Rockd). It is likely an invertebrate from the paleozoic, perhaps a straight-shelled cephalopod, or a partial crinoid stalk.

@matt-griffin, off the top of my head I don’t know any man-made object that looks quite like this (but it certainly could be one) but it is obviously made of or rich in iron, I wonder if it might be a limonite psuedomorph. In any case it is not a fossil.

Neat find! I agree with Mason – looks to be iron rich. Rocks in my area are often iron rich and I have seen some amazing shapes & vivid colors. Consider posting on mindat https://www.mindat.org/discuss.php
