7 years, 5 months ago7 years, 5 months agoHey Adam, @adam-armstrong,
hmmm still very hard to determine what it is, I need better pictures and more pics from the potential preopercular, maybe Mark Mehle can help us @markmehle?

The coelacanth Spermatodus pustulosis Cope is found there as well. With this ornamentation may be a possibility but I couldn’t find a good image on line. Will look it up in Forey’s History of Coelacanth Fishes tonight if I get a chance.

Dr. Ronny Maik Leder replied to the topic Pennsylvanian ?seed / ?trace, in sandstone, likely fluvial, likely Illinois in the forum What Is It? 7 years, 6 months ago
7 years, 6 months ago7 years, 6 months ago@asa-kaplan, Hi Asa, upon first look it appears like a fossil Carya, but that would not match with Pennsylvanian age, so I suggest that you might have a pseudofossil here.
