3 years ago3 years agoI posted it in pictures to share I thought. Sorry I must post in wrong place. My apologies. I’m not asking what it was because it’s pretty obvious what it is. I added pictures that’s not lit up to the post. I posted the picture lit up just to catch attention because there’s no doubt lit up or not it’s an egg

3 years ago3 years agoIt’s a petrified egg. With embryo visible. Doesn’t look translucent until you hold it up to the light.

Greetings @robin-dobie ! Your specimen appears to be a piece of sandstone. I’ll have to punch in your GPS coordinates to be sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s from the Pierre Shale. The PS is late Cretaceous, but a little too old for Triceratops. You’re more likely to find littoral and marine fossils.

I also think it is a piece of sandstone

Is it amber? What’s inside?
It’s a petrified egg. With embryo visible. Doesn’t look translucent until you hold it up to the light.
Use a photo not light up for identification

some better pictures would be greatly appreciated, since this does not appear to be an egg. it seems to be some sort of translucent mineral, but better pictures are needed.
