6 years, 2 months ago6 years, 2 months agoI am stuck in maceration of clay rich limestone.. porosity of the Rock is very low..if I used any acids they will destroy the fossils because the composition of the fossils is calcareous..
What I do ???

@laura-cotton, since you work with microfossils, do you have any recommendations to help solve this problem?

@rleder or @jkallmeyer – any suggestions for Sachin on this problem?
-
well first you need to dry the sediments by using a drying oven, that will open up tiny pores and cracks, then use the tensides we (Jack and I) already recommended in a former blog (like Rewoquat). If this isn’t working you will need to work with the good old mechanical methods … btw best greetings to El and Jack

Thank you sir for your kind suggestion..

@sachin-kania, @rleder, @egardner I agree with Ronny about using Rewoquat or similar material. If the clay % is very low I would not expect much success in maceration but it is worth a try.
