4 years, 6 months ago4 years, 6 months agoI believe our first fossil. It is in bedded in a large rock, next to a creek bed. Near Nashville Tennessee. It has what appears to be bone coming out of the rock. I haven’t measured it yet. What information is needed to best help identify this? Thank you all! #fossil

Hi! The third picture appears to be the most informative. I don’t think it’s bone though because of the concentric rings. Is there a way you could get a picture like the third but with more of the thing in question in view? The other 3 are too far away.

I’m leaning to gastropod (snail). Spire to the left and siphonic canal to the right. I’m thinking the concentric pattern might be from the shell’s coiling and then being cut obliquely.
