Doesn’t look to be a scap, but given it’s worn state I’m not entirely confident to ID it beyond lamniformes.

@staci-conkling Nice Scapanorhynchus texanum. If you want it to be marked research grade, you can put that in the classification, put Cretaceous period for the geochronology, and Selma Group for lithostratigraphy. Tag me when you get it done or if you have any questions!

Lovely ammonite! If you would like this to be marked research grade, you can add the order Ammonitida for classification, then put in the location information, then figure out the lithostratigraphy and geochronology using Rockd. Let me know if I can help with any of this! Thanks for posting

      Oyster

    • Profile picture of Mason Hintermeister
Mason Hintermeister replied 1 month, 1 week ago

Very nice! This is a type of fossil oyster from the family Gryphaeidae, better known as Devil’s Toenails, honeycomb oysters, or foam oysters. You can add that to the classification section. After adding in the location, you can add in the goechronology (I bet it’s cretaceous period!) and lithostratigraphy by using Rockd (which has both an app and…[Read more]

This is what is known as a steinkern or internal mold of an oyster or gastropod (snail)! You can complete the same steps outlined on the other fossil in order to have it marked research grade. For classification, simply put class Mollusca.
