    • Mosasaur tooth

    • @bill-heim thank you!

    • Hello Stacy! Awesome find, we’d love to add it to our research database. To be marked research grade, you’ll have to fill out a few more fields. First, you’ll need to add a classification. Bill hit the nail on the head with Mosasaur, so you can put family Mosasauridae into the taxon wizard (it should fill out the higher taxonomy). Next, you’ll need to add the geochronology. It’s from the Cretaceous period. Last, you’ll need the lithostratigraphy. You can put Selma Group in for Group, not sure which formation you are in (probably either Demopolis chalk or coffee sands) so you can leave that blank. In addition to filling out these fields, you’ll need to take a photo of the tooth with a scale of some sort (preferably a ruler but a coin will do in a pinch). Let me know if I can be of any help for anything, hope you have a wonderful day!

    • @mason-hintermeister I tried entering what you stated. Hope I got it all correct. I have absolutely no clue on the formation!

    • Mosasaur or alligator

    • @staci-conkling awesome I marked it research grade, thank you for contributing to our project!!
P.S. If you use the taxon wizard for classification, it will fill in the higher taxonomy for you. If it’s not working intuitively, no sweat though! I can easily fill it out on my end.
