4 years, 7 months ago4 years, 7 months ago@mackenzie-smith – were you commenting on the right image? Can you explain to us what you see?
@suzanne-laytham – I would expect slag or other metal waste to be very heavy. It often gets confused for meteorites! -

4 years, 9 months ago4 years, 9 months agoHi, @suzanne-laytham – it seems like this specimen is recorded twice – in two different groups. Is there one you would like to keep in your specimen collection and another we can move to stay in the group? Let me know if you want some help filling out information on our online platform – myfossil.org. Talk to you soon, Jen

4 years, 9 months ago4 years, 9 months agoHi, @suzanne-laytham I don’t think this is s fossil either. Is that black material really hard or can you chip it with your nail?

4 years, 9 months ago4 years, 9 months agoHi, @suzanne-laytham I’m not sure what the weird shape is but similar to the other post it’s possible it is slag. Is this specimen heavy too?

4 years, 11 months ago4 years, 11 months agoHi @suzanne-laytham! This is probably a rugose coral (horn corral). These fossils probably predate any vertebrates with large claws. This is also a marine environment so we’re more likely to find marine organisms.
