5 years, 7 months ago5 years, 7 months agoIt makes sense. If anyone can afford Artec, I would definitely recommend over Next Engine. Let us know if you notice a difference between scan quality. Thanks for your comment.

5 years, 11 months ago5 years, 11 months agoI think Evan is right on. Certainly looks like White River preservation to me. To narrow it down, it is the lower right jaw with the first and second molars of an oreodont, not Mesohippus. Without knowing where in the White River stratigraphy it came from and with no premolars present it’s hard to say which oreodont species it is, but like Evan…[Read more]

5 years, 11 months ago5 years, 11 months agoBruce, looks like the dates and venue for FAST changed to Miami Oct 25-27, which doesn’t overlap with SVP. Have you had a chance to contact the lady? or maybe this is a different conference.

Sean Moran commented on Julia Englund‘s Fossil #033397 6 years ago
6 years ago6 years agoWell, it’s certainly the distal half of a right humerus (the part of the bone that articulates with the radius and ulna). Based on size, and not having any idea how old it might be, I’d have to go with something like a deer, but distal humeri in some animals can be pretty difficult to tell apart so that’s by no means definitive.

6 years, 1 month ago6 years, 1 month agoHello,
I met a PhD student in Anthropology who develops teaching materials for Human Evolution. I know some of you are or will be teaching in the future. Some of the models she highlights are in MorphoSource. Here’s her website for lesson ideas, models, resources and more… If you want me to put you in contact with her, I’d be happy…[Read more]
