this site here is very rich, with fragmentary remains of Pliocene malacofauna counted in the thousend, the site is poorly recognized and was badly damaged by anthropic activity in 2018/9,resulting in the loss of 2/3 of the total digsite, always taking notes of where you find your fossils (down to the coordinates if possible) is key to recognize…[Read more]

the site is a of Plio-Pleistocene origin and is situated in the Argille Azzurre Plioceniche formation (FAA). The sediment is composed by marled clays, partially silty or sandy; grey colored with no stratification (or very limited one) due to bioturbation. very abundant fossil record of Gastropod and lamellibranchs, rarely yield vertebrate remains

Today I went back to Vignola sul Panaro for the first time after the lockdown.
A more detailed description of the site will be in the comments #collection_site

you should investigate the sample further with more precise methodologies, this way you would be able to definitely tell what you have found

the lick test only tells you the material your salive is in contact with is porous, there are a vast array of mineral forms that also react the same way as a fossilized bone

Heteromorph ammonites look like when someone stretches a 3D model distorting it

The “honeycomb patterning” is not 100% evidence something is of organic origin, there are many types of rocks that show a similar patterning or even some types of weathering and alteration that can create similar results.

Have you checked on all sides for traces of spinal processes of any kind? If this was to be a bone (which is improbable but better be certain) it would probably be a caudal vertebra of some sort, which have small cervical processes on the dorsal area
