Hi, @Tom-skimina – There are some discrepancies in your geologic context data. The Borden is a Mississippian formation but you indicate Ordovician in your timeline. Could you narrow down the location a bit so we can figure this out?

Hi, @tom-skimina – I am a little confused by your information. First, what do you think this fossil is? It doesn’t look like anything specific to me.

Second, if you are in Lawrence, Indiana the rock could be a few different things – Devonian or Silurian primarily. You suggest Ordovician in the geochronology but then Borden formation, which is…[Read more]

Hi, @tom-skimina, I agree with @sadie-mills and your geochronology and lithostratigraphic information are at odds. The Borden is a formation in the Mississippian not the Ordovician.

@tom-skimina your geochronology and lithostratigraphy are conflicting. If you found this fossil in Monroe Co. the age is likely Mississippian. Borden is a formation but not in the Mississippian.

Hi @tom-skimina! I showed your upload to a few people here at the Florida Museum. From the photos, they couldn’t see any fossil signs, and think it’s possible that it’s just an unusual rock. You could try adding the photos to our “What is it?” forum, and see if other community members have a better suggestion:…[Read more]
