4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoThanks, @trevor-hoelscher. Looks very weird. Is it really hard? Such that you can’t scratch it with your finger nail?

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoHi, @trevor-hoelscher, I don’t think this is a claw. I’m not sure what that raised portion is in the image on the right. It has the shape of some ancient clams that can be found in TX but that feature is confusing me. Can you give us a more precise location? That will at least narrow down the geologic formation. Talk to you soon, Jen

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoHi, @trevor-hoelscher I agree with @sadie-mills, knowing a more precise location will help narrow down on what it could be. It could be a sponge but I’m not sure, usually they preserve with the opening filled in. Do you have an image of another view of the specimen?

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months ago@trevor-hoelscher – where in Texas did you find this fossil? I don’t think it’s a jaw. I think there are a few straight (non-coiled) cephalopods in a really worn rock.
