The Winter 2017 issue of Fossil News, a special focus on the Fossil Basin area in and around Kemmerer, Wyoming, is on sale. We look at the museum at Fossil Butte National Monument, dig-your-own quarries, and the once-in-a-lifetime find of a monitor lizard in the Lindgren Quarry. Chock full of photos!

4 years, 7 months ago4 years, 7 months agoHello @bronwyn-mayo. I’m in Seattle, so not exactly next door, but have also been hoping to find collecting buddies (relatively) nearby. You can reach me at [email protected] Look forward to hearing from you — and maybe getting out in the field together!

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoNow that I’m settled in Seattle, I’m jonesing for some collecting opportunities. If anyone is planning collecting trips — I know this isn’t the best season, but perhaps in Spring? — I hope you’ll keep me in mind. I’d be very happy to meet new fossil fans and, of course, share expenses, etc.
All best!

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoDear Eleanor: My apologies for the terrible delay. I never realized I needed to do something to be notified of messages/replies on myFossil, so I’m reading your message now for the first time!
Because GSA was in Seattle this year, I did make a bunch of contacts to find out whether I could get Fossil News on display, but it was a no go. They only…[Read more]

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoDear Jack @jkallmeyer –
It took me a year to figure out that I had to do something to be notified of messages/replies on myFossil, so apologies for not responding sooner to your message. Thanks, by the way. I’m hoping to get back to my old Ordovician stomping grounds next summer, so I may see if you have any suggestions for me. Hope all is well!

4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoDear Victor @vperez: I haven’t figured out how to be notified when messages come in via myFossil, so I am literally seeing this a year later. My apologies. I much appreciate your showing the photos to Roger – and especially the ID. Many thanks to you both!

5 years, 11 months ago5 years, 11 months agoDear MyFOSSIL members:
I’m hoping there are at least a few other people out there interested in the micromolluscs of the Florida Plio-Pleistocene and who might have come across the very small, attractive bivalve pictured here. These specimens come from bulk sampling in the Pinecrest Sand, Tamiami Fm., Late Pliocene, south-central Florida. Many…[Read more]
