I bought this two years ago and know it’s 50MYO but I am unsure of what type of fish it is.

Looks like knightia from the green river formation. https://geology.com/articles/green-river-fossils/fish-fossils.shtml

I concur with @corinne-daycross. I would go further and say this is Knightia eocaena Jordan, 1907. There are 2 species of Knightia commonly found in the Green River Formation of Wyoming. K. eocaena and K. alta. K. alta has a deeper belly.

Really nice specimen. I’m a bit envious of all the findings people are posting. It’s truly a wonderful learning experience for me. Thanks

Just got sent this in a package. What kind of mollusc is it?

    • Profile picture of Patrick Hsieh
Patrick Hsieh replied 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Not a mollusc, this is a decapod of the genus Thalassina.

If you are having trouble adding more pictures to 1 post I guess you could do multiple posts with different pictures.

All I can tell for sure from the pictures is that it is an imprint of a small sea creature.

Good guess but not quite these are echinoids (sea urchins) called Lovenia Woodsi. It lived in the Miocene period.
