4 years, 3 months ago4 years, 3 months agoI got it to work on my mobile phone. Incidentally, the layer at the location where I found a lot of ammonite fossils in limestone is labeled as Holocene, which I know is not correct. I guess the nearest area labeled as Cretaceous is the correct information for my fossils.

Thanks for the link, but it’s not loading for me. :/-
Hm that’s weird. Maybe try their home page: https://macrostrat.org/ and click on ‘geologic map’

Yeah, that’s not uncommon. The software is pulling from maps from a variety of ages – so things could be drastically different from when they were originally mapped but it is always a good starting place!

Hi, @zach-dufran – did you take this specimen home with you? Here is a site where you can explore local bedrock to better understand the geologic context of an area: https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=11.0/x=-96.7124/y=33.9538/bedrock/lines/

Looks like a very large specimen, @zach-dufran – is this one still in situ or did you take it home with you? Talk to you soon, Jen
