    Hey Victor,

Question for you, I’ve been in a discussion on the Georgia Fossil Group’s facebook page and it has made me realize that there are a lot of misconceptions by some amateurs about how collections work. Primarily, Thomas Thurman of Georgia knows of three basilosaurid skeletons in the ground and every institution he’s contacted either doesn’t respond or says no. Based on the comments of others, I think a lot of amateurs think its bc we don’t care. Not because of money, labor, bureaucracy, permits, etc… Instead they think its the ‘Ivory Tower’ mentality… The other lament I get is that donations get lost at museums or that they just sit in ‘dusty cabinets’ for a hundred years and no one sees them. I’ve decided to revive my blog to address this, and I wondered if there is anything  that the Fossil Project has written about these misconceptions.
