Still working on cleaning up this very poorly preserved Gomphothere tusk. You can see bits of aluminum foil glued to it. We did this to protect the extremely chalky enamel when working to remove it from the rest of the skull. Now I’m working to get the foil off as well as remove all of the remaining sand. Going on 6 months on this specimen. #method
