I found this rock in a small creak, cutting through Catawba Ohio. Because it was in a creak, I believe that it could have washed down from really anywhere, so identifying it by its location alone probably wouldn’t help. At this point I’m not even 100% sure that it’s a fossil, so any advice whatsoever would really help. If it is a fossil, then my best guess would be Mastopora, or some other kind of fossilized algae. If it’s just your average rock, then my best guess would be some kind of volcanic rock, because of its extreme lightness or maybe basalt, but probably not the last one. Honestly I have no idea so any help on the ID of this specimen would be very much appreciated.
