The Lost Bird Project

November 1, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Passenger Pigeon roosting in front of the Florida Museum as a tribute to endangered and extinct species. Learn about these once-thriving birds in this thought-provoking memorial linking art with natural history and highlighting humans’ impact on biodiversity.

Artist Todd McGrain created these statues of five North American avian species, which were driven to extinction. They were permanently placed where each bird was last seen in the wild, ranging from Fogo Island, Newfoundland, to Okeechobee, Florida, with a traveling exhibit of the same figures touring nationally.

The Museum gratefully acknowledges the generous support of exhibit sponsor SFI.
