Danita Brandt has contributed specimen mFeM 76202 to myFOSSIL!

    • @danita-brandt Hi there! As with your other specimen, is this already a part of a curated collection? We can only mark specimen as research-grade if they do not appear in another repository!

    • Hi,Mackenzie,
Yes, I am posting several specimens from our teaching collection if I think they are interesting or may be of historical interest, like the ones collected back in the 1930’s. I understand that these will not included in the myFOSSIL research repository, I just though I’d put them out there for others to enjoy (and maybe correctly identify). I wouldn’t call our teaching collection “curated”–somewhere there are index cards, but there is a lot of work waiting for someone to sort things out, and I don’t think that’s going to happen before I retire. I fear that, once I’m gone, these specimens will go to the dumpster. Many of our teaching specimens that have data are going to U of M, but we have many more that have been separated from their data (or info was never recorded) that have a less-certain future.
