Dr. Sukhendu Mukhopadhyay has contributed specimen mFeM 86805 to myFOSSIL!

    • Fossil stingray barb?

    • the base attachment is confusing. it looks as if it was a spine made of bone that was integrated into a vertebrate’s body. not sure crabs have that in their claw articulation. and stingrays supposedly have detachable barbs, instead of something that appears to be permanently attached like so

    • I’m gonna do a spot of research, I’d like to get back to this fossil as it’s grabbed my attention

    • @leonardo-miranda the specimen has been cleaned further so that the basal part could be visualized properly. Upon cleaning a hooked base with an area of articulation is revealed, which draws my attention in favour of a left lower crab claw. Few more recent photos are attached that may help you to conclude. Thank you.
