There is little you can do to preserve the outer shell. It is made of aragonite which preserves very poorly and doesn’t react well to consolidates. You might try spraying it with a plastic coating spray.

@bill-heim darn I was hoping there was something that could be done. They’ve made a mess all over the inside of the box
