Hey Adam, @adam-armstrong,
hmmm still very hard to determine what it is, I need better pictures and more pics from the potential preopercular, maybe Mark Mehle can help us @markmehle?

  The coelacanth Spermatodus pustulosis Cope is found there as well. With this ornamentation may be a possibility but I couldn’t find a good image on line. Will look it up in Forey’s History of Coelacanth Fishes tonight if I get a chance.
