I just had a great visit to Rügen in Germany. Sassnitz is famous for its chalk cliffs and fossils.
I went to the Kreidemuseum in 18551 Sagard, Gummanz 3 a, Germany, where I met Dr. Peter Dietrich and his colleagues.
In the Kreidemuseum you can see a replica of a Mosasaur hoffmanni, the Fossil of the Year 2017 (an oyster called Pycnodonte), and more like the old machinery and have a view over their quarry. There you can also book an excursion to Poimoisel, Goldberg, or the cliffs.
Please check on www.kreidemuseum.de or phone +49/(0)38302/56229 for more information (and fotos)
Very cool, thanks for sharing! In your travels around Germany, have you by any chance been to Leipzig? One of the FOSSIL Project’s former postdocs, @rleder, is now the director of Naturkundemuseum Leipzig. You should connect with him! 🙂
