    • That’s an excellent specimen, @bill-heim. What causes the iridescent-like glow?

      • Just the light shining off the enamel, I’m guessing. There may be pyrite underneath the enamel.
The day I found this in Lee Creek, the weather was super nasty. It was about 35-40 degrees when we arrived in the morning and the temperature dropped all day. The water was warmer than the air. The wind was blowing about 30mph. It was sleeting. You had to wade through waist deep water to get to a place to collect. There was a dry matrix ramp ending straight out from the bus about 200 yards long. About half way, there was a small flag probably marking something to look at in the future or maybe an old flag (there was nothing there). People that started down the ramp thought it was a collection boundary marker and turned around. I knew better as it was the wrong color and all by itself. So I continued down the ramp. By the end near the water, I could see this tooth laying out, fully exposed. I quickly ran and snatched it up before my collecting buddy could spot it. The collecting was absolutely terrible that day. No one found anything worth mentioning (except me). I didn’t show it to anyone on the bus ride back (my buddy had seen it already and he was pissed) as I didn’t want to start a riot.

        • Oh that’s so bizarre. And what a story!!! That tooth is definitely beautiful enough to start a riot, an excellent find on a miserable day!
