Antony Avrithis has contributed specimen mFeM 76768 to myFOSSIL!

    • Hey @antony-avrithis I’m not all that familiar with European Neogene equids, but I think the safest bet here is to just call it Equus sp. Do you have any literature to suggest it is definitively E. stenonis?

    • Yeah

    • Neogen und jungtertiiire Entwicldung der Insel Kos (Agaiis, Griechenland) Von Rainer Willmannn and there it says in German exactly this ->..

    • I showed my advisor (Bruce MacFadden, a horse expert) the tooth and he’s not convinced it’s Equus. I think for now let’s ID it to Equidae, and then maybe we’ll be able to find a more appropriate classification in the future.

    • Ok , it’s also considered as research grade with this classification eh?

    • Also the research I presented is a speculation from the writer

    • Yeah, it’s certainly an interesting specimen. The enamel patterning doesn’t scream Equus, that’s why we are thinking it might not be (possibly a hipparionine). And yes! The only other thing that we need to change to make it research grade is the coordinates from decimal minutes seconds to decimal degrees. I can help with that if you want. Just let me know!

    • Yeah .. please , because I have posted many things , fixed some but not all
